Voces del Oeste is a news publication covering the west of the Dominican Republic and the wider world. We designed and published its mobile app, a free, Spanish-language news app available on Google Play and the App Store.
Business challenge
Readers increasingly follow the news on their phones. The publication needed a place on the home screen: an app that is quick to open, easy to read for every age group, and able to tell people when something important happens, on both Android and iOS.
Goals and requirements
Bring local, national and international coverage to phones
Organize stories by topic: politics, sports, culture and society
Send notifications for the most relevant news
Keep the design simple and easy to use
Publish on both Google Play and the App Store
Proposed solution
A clean news feed with clear topic sections, written for a Spanish-speaking audience, and a selective notification channel that brings readers back for the stories that matter. The same app was prepared, with its own listing, age rating and privacy declarations, for each of the two stores.
Implementation process
01
Plan the content structure
Sections, topics and news scopes (local, national, international) defined before design began.

03

News feed, article view and push notifications for the most relevant stories.
